Cavell Nurses Trust

Carolyn has had this lovely response from the Cavell Nurses Trust. The donation marks the winding up of the financial side of the League which has taken longer than anticipated. Carolyn will be writing a final message soon to mark the closing of the website.

To the members of The Liverpool Royal Infirmary Nurses League

The whole team and I were overwhelmed to receive your incredibly kind donation of £4849.27 upon the closure of the Liverpool Royal Infirmary Nurses League. Thank you so much.

Whilst I am sorry to hear of the League’s recent closure, I’ve spent time reading and enjoying the wonderfully varied and rich history the League has enjoyed since forming in 1933. Something I hope you are all very proud of.

I particularly enjoyed reading the ‘anecdotes’ on your website; what an inspirational collection of experiences and the history of nursing.

I wanted to personally write and let you know that the League will live on in our work as we ensure working and retired nursing professionals across the UK can access vital support when faced with hardship.

Your generosity will provide life-changing support to nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants who are facing a crisis in their lives. Many of the people we help have fallen on hard times due to an unexpected health issue, disability, domestic abuse or a financial crisis. After receiving a helping hand, enabled by donations like yours, the nursing professionals we help say they’re often happier and healthier.

If any nursing members of the League were to unfortunately find themselvesfacing difficulties, Cavell Nurses’ Trust is only a phone call way. Please knowthat we are here for all of the League’s nurses, midwives and HCAs if they need help.

To show our thanks, we would be delighted to invite representatives from the league to our Care and Cake Garden Party in Birmingham on 21st June. Join us at the stunning Grade II* listed mansion house, and former First World War auxiliary hospital, as we celebrate nursing. If this travel is inconvenient, we will be also be hosting a celebration in Manchester, towards the end of 2019. Please let me know which is more suitable, we would be so thrilled to meet with you and show our gratitude.

We would also to like to shout proudly about your incredible support, and would be interested in producing a news story to celebrate your donation and the history of the League. If you would be interested in this, I would love to hear your thoughts. We would be happy to draft a press release and we could take a photograph at one of the Care and Cake events mentioned above.

Please know that your gift will make such a difference to those who need it most. Once again, may I say how grateful we are to have your support and I look forward to hearing from you soon in regards to the Care and Cake Garden Party and the news story.

With gratitude
